Keyhole.

I've been in the Studio all weekend, working on retro pin-up art.

Having researched the likes of Alberto Vargas and Gil Elvgren, I noticed quite a nice graphic device. The Keyhole.

Whilst have a break, (and a cup of tea) I thought I'd apply it to one of my own illustrations.

Drink and Draw.

Back in November, the folk in the studio I share and I ran an evening of tiddly scribbling.

It was such a success we are running another, if you have nothing to do on February the 9th come along. For more information visit facebook.com/penanddrink.

Waiting for Kate.

I'm feeling a little like a child on Christmas eve, awaiting the arrival of my new Mac. I'm rather looking forward to having a larger screen to see more of the image I'm working on.

I'm also due a new phone, my iPhone 3GS is on it's last legs, so had a wander into town to see if I could pre-order an iPhone 4S. I couldn't, O2 won't let you. Though Kate of depict photography whom I share a studio with was able to, as she's on Oranage.

It wasn't all bad though, whilst waiting for her I was able to mess around with a drawing app on an iPad.

Fun drawings.

I've been having fun this afternoon, working on artwork that is rather exciting but I can't actually divuldge an iota of what it is.

Though, in my free-time I am working on a comic book with Writer/Actor/Director Noel Clarke, that's fun also.

Hopefully a day of drawing will ensue...

I seem to have a day or indeed an afternoon of drawing ahead, I am rather looking forward to it.

As you can see by the first image on the illustration page, I'm experimenting with new digital techniques, this is partly inspired by the amazing Phil Noto. If you've not seen any of his work, check him out.

I seem to be quite inspired by him at the moment, even my doodles have a Noto-esque quality.

AGAIN, I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE TIME HAS GONE...

...it's been months.

Six months to be exact.

So I'm now sharing a rather pretty (funky) canal side studio, it's amazing how pleasant surroundings boost creativity. Also, it's with a great and talented bunch of folk.

I'm still pushing my illustration and hopefully exciting things are on the horizen.

Time REALLY has flown...

...it's been ages.

It's been an odd couple of months.

Anyway, for a while I'll be working on the London 2012 project for Adidas, but that is all I can say, and no previews here (or anywhere) I'm afraid.

On a different note, ran this morning with an average 7:55 minute mile.... which is nice.

Gorillaz

I went to see the Gorillaz last Wednesday, they were amazing.

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Wiggins.

De La Soul opened the show, and then guest appeared during the headliner's slot. Mr. Bobby Womack made an appearance and the whole night seemed to be injected with added funk.

I'm a huge geek for Jamie Hewlett's work, from his earliest Tank Girl stuff right the way through to the astonishing visuals he's compiling for the Gorillaz project.

Crikey, that there time is still flying...

It's been a busy old month, but peculiarly not much to show for it.

Though I did knock out an illustration as a gift for my bother's 30th. Believe it or not he's a bigger Star Wars fan than I.

I must confess I'm a bit of a hoarder of cool paper stuff and still had the wrapping from my 'Star Wars Adidas All-Stars', so put it to good use when I got the image framed.

OK, so this Doodle of the Day malarky didn't last long, but I do have a genuine excuse.

Swingin' painting

When I have the chance I love to paint, so spent the day doing just that.

I have rather a soft spot for the design and style sensibilities of the 1960's so have been trying to keep the painting 'cool'. That was the intention but my efforts seem to have turned out as rather 'Jason Brooks'-esque. Not such a bad thing, I really admire his work.

Pretty Funky 4.0

...and here it is a web-site that finally focuses on the work itself; not the design or build of the site that it's presented within.

It's taken a bit of work, and a lot of "don't need this", "don't need that", basically whatever distracted the viewer away from the work itself I removed.

Though it may look like the simplest site I've created it actually seems to have been the most complicated to build... and I'm no Coder.

So honourable mentions go to: Stu "Cheers, I owe you." and Mark "Thanks".

But at the end of the day (footballers favourite catch-phrase), I hope y'all like it.

There are IE bugs to be sorted but that'll be fixed shortly, if your're viewing this in Safari, Firefox or IE10, it'll work fine.
